The new TANK 800 concept is the Chinese version of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan

Great Wall Motors' new sub-brand of SUVs and SUVs has unveiled a spectacular prototype at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, the massive TANK 800 concept. This one has a very robust but also very luxurious image.

Although it was only a few weeks ago that we learned that the Chinese company intended to turn TANK into a new sub-brand destined to market SUV and off-road vehicles, we have already met at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show with two prototypes of new models of this seal newborn.

If the other day we showed you the striking Cyber TANK 300, a heavily modified variant of the well-known TANK 300 that is marketed in China and Australia, now we find the first images and data of the no less spectacular TANK 800 concept. This huge SUV has a self-developed 3.0-liter V6 that is part of a hybrid system associated with a 9-speed automatic transmission. At the moment the company has not revealed the performance figures of the model.

Setting

The new TANK 800 concept is at the moment just a saloon prototype that seems to prefigure a luxury SUV for this new Chinese label, endowed with the robust and opulent design that is often liked by Oriental customers. This one is characterized by a very flat front with a large vertical slat grille and large square headlights, while at the rear we see much more stylized T-shaped LED optics than the main headlights.

For now we do not know if we are really facing the advancement of a future production model or if, on the contrary, it is a simple prototype saloon whose sole objective is to draw attention to this new Great Wall Motors seal. Although the truth is that TANK is really a spin-off of WEY, since the Tank 300 was originally presented as the WEY Tank 300 in China and as the Haval Tank 300 in Australia.

In any case, the spectacular violet and gold prototype that has been presented in Shanghai has a very striking aesthetic and quite close to production, except for its luxurious interior, which appears completely covered in leather and velvet combining white and purple, plus various wood, metal and glass inserts. Finishes that we do not believe will reach the assembly line, if this project finally gets the green light.
