First images of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire in motion
Almost two years after its official presentation, we can finally see the real and final example of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which has been hunted in the vicinity of the Molsheim factory during what appears to be the final tuning tests. So it is also the first time that we can see it in motion.
During the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the model that currently holds the record for the most expensive new vehicle in history, the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, whose price with taxes was presented to its wealthy owner was no less than 16.5 million euros. Its price before tax was 11 million euros.
Although the model is a one-off made at the express request of a client and therefore it is a unique example, the model that was presented at the Geneva event was nothing more than a scale model of which we believe did not have the The interior was finished and, furthermore, it could only be moved by the action of small electric motors, as we were able to verify months later at the Villa d'Este event. So it was not really the real model but a showcar whose purpose was to present the exterior of the model.
So these are truly the first images of the true Bugatti La Voiture Noire, the development and construction of which has taken the French Volkswagen Group brand just over 2 years. These photographs have been taken by a local spotter in the vicinity of the Bugatti factory in Molsheim and it appears the model is performing the usual road tests that the brand does with all its copies during its final adjustments.
This one-off is based on the Bugatti Chiron, from which it takes its central carbon monocoque frame and its complete mechanical set, without changes. So under the rear hood we find the same 16-cylinder 8.0-liter 4-turbos engine that delivers 1,500 hp and 1,600 Nm of maximum torque. It is very likely that in the next few days the company will officially announce the delivery of this copy.
Mysterious owner
At first it was speculated that this specimen had been requested by Ferdinand K. Piëch, former Volkswagen boss, however he died a few months after the presentation of the prototype in Geneva. So we still do not know who is the lucky owner of this unique example that is inspired by the mythical Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic by Jean Bugatti.
