All New Volkswagen Talagon, the brand's largest SUV, presented in China

The joint-venture between Volkswagen and FAW has officially presented at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show the new Volkswagen Talagon 2022, a 3-row SUV that will be available exclusively on the Chinese market and is the largest model of its type marketed so far by the German brand, as its length even exceeds that of the huge Volkswagen Atlas / Teramont.

Volkswagen Atlas and Teramont are no longer the largest models in the German company's catalog, since at 5.15 meters long, the new Volkswagen Talagon 2022 exceeds these models by 112 millimeters, with which it precisely shares the MQB platform.

All new 2022 Volkswagen Talagon was officially unveiled this week during the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, where the German company also unveiled the definitive variant of the Volkswagen ID.6, the 3-row crossover of the Volkswagen ID electric range.

Volkswagen Talagon is a product of the Volkswagen-FAW joint venture and therefore will be produced and marketed exclusively in the Chinese market, where we can also find what until now was the largest model of the German firm, the Volkswagen Teramont, the Chinese variant of the Volkswagen Atlas that is the work of the SAIC-Volkswagen joint-venture.

Characteristics

The design of the Volkswagen Talagon should come as no surprise to our regular readers, as in addition to posting images of various prototypes during its development, we also showed the first leaked images of the model in which its entire new design was revealed. From what we already knew well the appearance of this behemoth, which has a length of 5,152 mm, a width of 2,002 mm and 1,795 mm high. Interestingly, its wheelbase is identical to that of the Volkswagen Atlas / Teramont: 2,980 mm.

Although the first reports claimed that this model was only going to be available with 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engines, the company confirmed during its presentation that there will be a superior version that mounts the 2.5-liter V6 TSI with an output of 299 hp (295 hp). hp) and 500 Nm of maximum torque, associated with one of the usual double-clutch DSG transmissions from the German brand.
